Results three weeks after polls, says EC
Kathmandu, March 21:
The result of the election of the Constituent Assembly (CA) is going to be late by two to three weeks this time due to technicalities, says Election Commission.
Chief commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel said it would take two to three weeks for the final and complete result of the election to be out. “The result is going to be complicated this time. We urge voters to support the commission to bring the result as soon as possible.”
As the election consists of two types of voting with different nature - it will take two separate systems of counting. The usual first-past-the-post system will give prompt result in one or two days all over the country but the process for declaring final result from the proportional
representation is going to be lengthy.
“We will do our best to count the two types of voting simultaneously. If it becomes impossible, we will first declare result of the first-past-the-post system. And for the second system, we will first count the votes and send the results to the concerning parties and seek their confirmation before declaring who have won the election,” he said. The parties will then exercise in central committee for days before agreeing or disagreeing with results.
