Ri village to be connected by road within this fiscal

Dhading, December 11

If everything goes as planned, Dhading’s remote Ri VDC will be connected by road by the end of the current fiscal.

Of the total 46 VDCs and one municipality, Tipling, Sertung, Lapa, Ri and Jharlang VDCs in the northern part of the district have yet to be connected with road network.

Though Ri locals had frequented the authorities seeking road connectivity to their village, their requests had fallen on deaf ears until lately when the Dhading District Development Committee extended its support for the road project linking the village.

As per the sources, construction of the road will be over in this fiscal year itself.

“Earlier we had a road up to Chimchok of Gumdi, but now as the works have started, the road will be expanded to Tawal of Ri,” said CPN-UML district member Kanchha Lama, adding, “So far, 19 km of the 20 km road has been constructed from Chimchok to Tawal.”

Meanwhile, the road project has given hope to Ri residents who earn their living by making various bamboo-based items. “Earlier in the absence of the road facility, it was difficult for us to sell our products.

The prospect of the road is a good news for us,” said a local of Ri, adding,

“This will also end our plight of having to trek for two days to reach Ghangsang of Darkha to board a vehicle.”

Dhading Constituency No 1 lawmaker Dhana Bahadur Ghale expressed hope that the road will bring great relief to the local residents.
