RJP chief condemns YCL activities

Dhankuta, March 24:

President of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa today condemned the pro-Maoist Young Communist League (YCL) for “disrupting” his party’s poll campaign.

Thapa, who is contesting the Constituent Assembly polls from Dhankuta constituency no. 2, was speaking at a press conference here. Around 150 YCL cadres allegedly misbehaved with RJP activists involved in a poll campaign in Khoku of Dhankuta district, including district member of the RJP Rewat Bahadur Bhandari, Mahesh Thapa, Bam Bahadur Rai and Ram Bahadur Rai. They allegedly looted election materials and detained the RJP activists for eight hours.

Accusing the Maoists of hindering poll-related activities of his party, Thapa urged reporters to work to “push their pen to stop such activities.”

Dhankuta district secretary of the Maoists Chetan said he has no information on the incident.
