RNA bid to uphold human rights

Kathmandu, January 25:

Human Rights Executive Task Force of the RNA is visiting the Divisional and Brigade Headquarters to check if the forces are following human rights directives.

It is holding interactions with commanders, officers and civilian counterparts to improve rights situation by discussing and adopting corrective procedures, officials at the army headquartrers say.

“The sole purpose of forming the task force is to improve rights situation through expeditious settlement of allegations on violation and other pending court cases,” said Brigadier-General BA Kumar Sharma of the RNA Legal Unit.

Headed by a colonel, the task force comprises three members, including a senior official from the Human Rights Cell. It has already made a trip to Pokhara and Butwal and several barracks in Kathmandu and held interactions.
