Rs 4bln budget unveiled for Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan City

Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan City has unveiled a budget of Rs 4 billion for the fiscal 2017-18.

Mayor of the metropolis Man Bahadur GC unveiled the budget during the first meeting of the municipal council today.

The budget estimates collection of Rs 1.82 billion from conditional and unconditional grants and Rs 2.21 billion from revenues and taxes.

Mayor GC said the metropolis will spend Rs 1.36 billion on infrastructural development, Rs 136.5 million on environment conservation and disaster management, Rs 151 million on social development, Rs 23 million on economic development, and keep Rs 155 million for different funds. Likewise, Rs 90 million has been allocated for waste management and Rs 300 million for administrative expenses.

Speaking at the meeting, Mayor GC said the metropolis would be developed into a city with international standard infrastructure. He added that the city would be well-equipped with modern facilities and also would be discrimination-free.

Western Regional Administrator Begendra Poudel expressed commitment to support all plans and policies drafted by the metropolis.

Chief District Officer of Kaski Tara Nath Adhikari stressed good governance, disaster management and conservation of public lands in the metropolis.
