 Gurshtein spends less than 44 hours on the mountain from base camp to summit and back
KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 26
Nepal's autumn mountaineering season witnessed an extraordinary dash this week as Russian climber Artem Gurshtein wrapped up a complete Manaslu summit expedition in under four days-from arrival in Kathmandu to return flight-spending less than 44 hours on the mountain itself.
Supported by Sherpa guide Ngima Dorji and logistics provider 14 Peaks Expedition, Gurshtein reached Manaslu Base Camp at 12:55pm on September 21, launched his ascent at 3:30pm on September 22, and was already on the 8,163-metre summit by 6:06 a.m. September 23.
He descended to base camp the same evening at 22:58pm and flew back to Kathmandu the next morning at 7:52am, according to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, CEO of 14 Peaks Expedition.
Sherpa called it "an incredibly fast ascent of Manaslu".
