SAFMA team to arrive today

Kathmandu, March 16:

A high-level fact finding mission of the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) is arriving Kathmandu tomorrow to assess the situation of media and freedom of expression here.

SAFMA’s secretary-general Imtiaz Alam is leading the delegation that includes Reazudding Ahmed, SAFMA president and editor of The News Today of Bangladesh and KK Katyal, former resident editor of The Hindu. Likewise, Nihal Singh, senior journalist of India and SAFMA member and Nasi Malik, a member of SAFMA Pakistan are also in the team. The mission has plans to meet journalists, rights defenders, lawyers and officials. The team will also seek an audience with King Gyanendra, SAFMA said in a statement.
