Sarlahi Police have seized 300 kg of marijuana hidden in a mud house in Laxmipur of Kaudena Rural Municipality-1, police said.
A police team raided the house of Bijan Patel after receiving a tip that a large quantity of marijuana had been concealed there. Police recovered the drugs packed in 15 sacks during the search.
Patel, the owner of the house, is absconding, said DSP Bed Prasad Gautam, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Sarlahi. Police have launched a search for him.
Gautam said the seizure was made as police intensified surveillance to curb the smuggling of narcotic drugs towards India through border areas of the district.
Police said they have stepped up monitoring of people involved in the illegal trade and transportation of narcotic drugs, while the search for the absconding suspect and further investigation are underway.
