SSB obstructs fencing on Nepali territory in Bardiya

GULARIYA: Indian border security force Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has objected to the fencing activities being carried out in Nepali land which is about 80 metres north from the Rajapur-based Nepal-India border pillar numbers 86 and 87.

Although the fencing activities were in progress in Rajapur Municipality and Geruwa Rural Municipality of Bardiya district at considerable distance from the Indian border, the SSB were interfering in the tasks, locals complained.

According to local Bishnu Rijal, SSB personnel entered the Nepali land and threatened the locals not to construct the fence there saying that the area was disputed.

Locals were fencing the jungle area with electric wire in order to prevent the wild elephants from entering the Nepali land from across the border.
