School shut to protest locals high-handedness
BAGLUNG: Tribhuvan Higher Secondary School in Balewa of Paiyupata-1 has been closed indefinitely to protest the thrashing of students by local youths.
According to Sahadev Paudel, coordinator, Teachers' and Guardians' Union, locals of Wards No 8 and 9 of Paiyupata VDC attacked tenth-graders this morning during the coaching hour on the school premises.
Surya Bahadur Kunwar and Chandra Bahadur Kunwar, who were attacked with khukuris, sustained injuries and are being treated in the local health post. Following the attack, the guardians padlocked the school demanding security of students and action against the culprits. Head Teacher Ananda Prakash Paudel said the School Management Committee (SMC) would probe into the matter. A meeting of the committee has been called for the purpose, he said.
