SC’s order will not halt statute drafting process: Nembang

POKHARA: Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang said that Supreme Court’s order would not halt the Constitution drafting process.

Speaking at a programme organised in Pokhara on Sunday, Nembang said that no order or directive could halt the constitution drafting process at this situation.

Since the CA is the sovereign body for promulgating the new statute, the task would not be halted by the Court’s order, he said.

Saying that the people had long been waiting for the new constitution, Nembang opined that the statute drafting process would move ahead according to an agreement reached among the political parties.

Stating that the second CA had initiated its work by owning up all the achievements of the previous CA, he expressed his hope that the constitution would be delivered at any cost this time.

The SC on Friday had issued an interim order, staying the CA’S plan to promulgate the new constitution without naming and fixing boundaries of provinces.
