Security alert in violence-hit Birgunj

BIRGUNJ:  Following donation and detonation terrors piqued by armed outfits, the local administration has tightened security in Birgunj and its adjoining areas.

Police and Armed Police Force personnel have been mobilised in the bazaar area. More than 700 security personnel patrol the city area alone, while security provisions have been managed for the rural areas too.

Every evening, policemen from both the security organisations have been searching

for armed outfit cadres hiding in the suspected areas and

junctions and also checking motor vehicles. The police have also made special security arrangements at city hotspots and religious places.

In the meantime, APF SP Rajendra Basnet said the armed outfits had switched to fleecing money while it used to be explosion terrors. The police, however, got hold of three activists of an armed group with some explosives, in the last two days. “We have mobilised plain clothed security personnel to thwart possible untoward incidents,” CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari told the The Himalayan Times.

Furthermore, an all party meet held in district administration office Parsa, representatives have expressed their commitment for helping in implementing the special security plan.

Dhangadhi Bazaar shut over murder row

DHANGADHI: Locals have announced indefinite closure of Chainpur bazaar demanding arrest of the culprit involved in the killing of Dipak Dhami, 30, a resident of Rithapata VDC-8, on Wednesday. “The protesters have closed the market forcefully,” Keshavraj Koirala, Chairman Chainpur Chambers of Commerce and Industries said. Businessmen lamented that their business were adversely affected.

Dhami’s body was found under a suspension bridge in Bauligard this evening. As there were bruises on different parts of the dead body the relatives claimed that Dhami was murdered. Locals said that they had no other choice as the local administration was indifferent. However, DSP, Basanta Kumar Pant said that the post-mortem reports were yet to be received and the police would investigate further. — HNS
