BAJURA, JULY 3

Hundreds of security personnel will be deployed for the local level election slated for July 7 in Budhiganga Municipality, Bajura.

Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepali Army and representatives from National Investigation Department will be deployed at ten polling stations of the municipality. One-hundred security personnel will be deployed at a station. Nepal Police and APF Police Officer will be at the forefront of the security arrangement at the voting centres.

Chief of District Police Office, Bajura, Surya Bahadur Thapa said that security personnel would be managed at all voting centres. Thapa added that senior police officers would take the leadership for safety and security at the voting centres.

There are 12,659 voters in Budhiganga Municipality. According to District Election Office, Bajura, as many as 10 voting centres and 19 polling booths were managed for the election.

Chief District Officer Prakash Chandra Adhikari said that security was managed at all voting centres as per the need. He said that security had been beefed up to ensure voting in a fair and fearless manner. Staffers will be deployed at the voting centres from tomorrow for the election.

The May 13 election was halted due to dispute in the municipality and rescheduled for June 7.

Locals said that the earlier election could not be held in six wards of the municipality. The elections at wards 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9 were halted following the same.

Election Commissioner Sagun Shamsher JBR-led team studied the issue of Budhiganga Municipality.

Chief Election Office had directed that re-election be conducted.

The municipality had failed to deliver services to the people due to lack of people's representatives in the local body.
