Senior litterateur and former prime minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand honored with civic felicitations in Dhangadhi.

During a formal program organized by the Civic Felicitations Main Organizing Committee, Lokendra Bahadur Chand, a senior litterateur and former Prime Minister, was honored for his outstanding contributions to Nepali literature in Dhangadhi of Kailali district on Thursday.

Committee Coordinator Maya Prakash Bhatta presented the former PM with a letter of appreciation.

On this occasion, two dozen literary associations, including Sudurpaschimanchal Literary Society and Sudurpaschim Academy, also recognized Chand for his achievements. Bhatta stated that the civic felicitations program was arranged to commemorate Chand's 84th birth anniversary.

Widely known as "Shreelochan" among the Nepali literary community, Chand received the prestigious Madan Puraskar in 2054 BS for his anthology of stories titled 'Bisarjan'.

Born in Sunarya Rural Municipality of Baitadi district, Chand has published 14 literary works, including 'Hiyuko Tanna', 'Ratri Bhoj', 'Aparajita', among others.
