Seven crusher industries shut in Kavre
KAVRE: Kavre administration on Wednesday shut as many as seven crusher industries operating in the district. The industries were shut stating that the use of excavator and dozer was further weakening the vulnerable hilly land area badly affected by the massive earthquake.
The administration decided to shut mines and industries due to pressure from locals. They were shut after industries along the BP Highway and its vicinity were monitored. An industry operated by lawmaker Tirtha Lama also was closed today.
Chief District Officer Sudarshan Dhakal, Local Development Officer Chiranjibi Timsina, Kavre Police Chief SP Puja Singh, among others, had monitored the mines and industries operating along the highway and shut the ones which did not meet the necessary criteria.
Pashupati Roda-Dhungagiti Udhyog based in Kashikhanda municipality-6; Kanpur, Katunje-based Manakamana Aggregade Crusher Udhyog and lawmaker Lama’s Nangshal Roda Dhunga Udhyog in Kharpachowk-2, along the BP Highway were shut.
Lama’s industry was closed saying that it had breached the highway criteria, failing to manage stones properly and that it was disposing the dust into the local Roshi River.
Similarly, the monitoring team asked the authority to immediately shut Gauri Shankar Roda-Dhunga Udhyog located at Kharpachowk-2, Ma Chandeshwori Aggregade Roda-Dhunga Udhyog and Gorkha Aggregade Roda-Dhunga Udhyog after the field visit. The team seized the keys of all the machines in the industries.
The industries were closed due to lack of board that would display necessary identity of the industries, lack of proper safety measures for employees, pollution of human settlements and surroundings, improper location of industries, non-renewal of licence and lack of necessary documents, said CDO Dhakal.
Mahesh Chaudhary, engineer at Water Induced Disaster Control Division Office-4, Bhaktapur, said that negligence on the part of crusher operators along the highway would cause disaster in the near future.
