A 21-year-old climber from Pakistan today scaled Mt Annapurna becoming the youngest person to have successfully scaled 11 mountains above 8,000m.

According to Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Expedition Director at Seven Summit Treks, Shehroze Kashif has successfully scaled the 10th highest peak in the world at 7:15 am, becoming the youngest person in the world to summit 11 peaks above 8,000m.

Shehroze, who holds multiple climbing records, has to scale Dhaulagiri, Shishapangma and Cho-Oyu to complete all 14 peaks, according to Sherpa. "He will be attempting to scale Dhaulagiri to complete 12 peaks next week," he added.

Similarly, from the SST, Naila Kiani became the first Pakistani woman to scale Annapurna this morning. "Naila, Shehroze and Indian climber Arjun Vajpai along with Lakpa Nurbu Sherpa, Tashi Sherpa and Lakpa Sherpa stood atop the mountain this morning," Thaneswar Guragai, General Manager at SST, said.

With a quick acclimatization rotation, Polish mountaineers Oswald R. Pereira and Bartosz Ziemski successfully climbed Mt. Annapurna without using oxygen bottles and Sherpa support, he informed. Noel R. Hanna from Ireland along with Dawa Nurbu Sherpa also scaled Annapurna, he said, adding that Alina Pekova, Amit Kumar, Josette Valloton, Afsaneh Hesami Fard, Dragan Celikovic, Vibeke Andrea Sefland, Pemba Thenduk Sherpa, Mingtemba Sherpa, Pasang Tenje Sherpa, Phurbu Kusang Sherpa, Tenje Chhumbi Sherpa and Chhepal Sherpa from SST scaled the 8091-metre peak yesterday.
