Deuba hopeful of Madhesi parties' participation in polls

BHOJPUR: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has assured that the constituent parties of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) would participate in the upcoming local level polls.

Addressing journalists at the Biratnagar Airport of Morang district on Friday, Deuba hoped for an agreement with the Madhesi Front as there had been continuous talks with them of late.

Saying that the country's people were more excited than that of the political parties for the polls, Deuba guaranteed that the local polls would be conducted on the announced date.

He reiterated that the incumbent government had also been working hard to bring consensus among the political parties so as to protect the Constitution amendment bill, tabled in the Parliament for discussion, from being a failure.

The largest ruling party's top leader had gone Morang to inaugurate the NC's District Assembly.

On a different note, Deuba said it was to wait and see about the controversy surrounding the appointment of Inspector General of Police.
