Sirens to ward wild elephants off Kanchanpur village

KANCHANPUR: In a bid to protect villagers from wild elephants, three sirens have been installed in Baduwal of Dodhara Chandani Municipality in Kanchanpur.

Local Community Security Committee and Buffer Zone Users’ Committee initiated the project funded by various donors.

“Every year, wild elephants straying from nearby Indian forests enter the village, attack locals and destroy crops. Siren helps people stay on their toes whenever there is an emergency in case of wild elephants entering the village,” said Amar Bahadur Basnet, chairman of the Sagarmatha Buffer Zone Users’ Group.
