Sitaula calls agitating parties to sit for dialogue

Jhapa, September 23

Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula today urged the agitating Madhes-based parties to give up violent protests and sit for talks.

Speaking at a programme jointly organised by Nepal Women’s Union, Nepal Teachers’ Union and Nepali Congress Regional Committee in Bhadrapur, Jhapa, today, Sitaula assured that problems could be resolved through peaceful talks.

He said the newly promulgated constitution ensured the rights of Madhesis, women, Dalits and indigenous nationalities, among others.

“The Constitution belongs to all Nepalis rather than a particular political party,” he claimed. The NC leader clarified that the new constitution was people-friendly. “The issues can be addressed through amendments in the constitution as our statute is the most inclusive statute in the world,” he said adding the promulgation of constitution through people’s representatives had been the dream of every Nepali for the last 65 years and everybody ought to accept it as it was gained through majority votes.
