Six injured in Bara lightning strike

BARA: As many as six persons sustained injuries in a lightning strike that occurred in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-12 of Bara district on Tuesday night.

Six labourers of local Mahal Brick Kiln — Naimuddin Ansari and Salma Khatun of Bara district, and Kaleshwor Ram, Bhantu Paswan, Ramprabesh Ram, and Jitan Paswan of Sitamadi in the Indian State of Bihar — were resting in a shed when it was struck by the lightning, setting it ablaze.

The injured are undergoing treatment at a health facility in Kalaiya, police informed.

The fire was doused with the help of a fire engine from Kalaiya Municipality, according to Spokesperson of Bara Police, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanuram Bhattarai.

Meanwhile, strong winds on Tuesday night also blew away the tents where people affected by the Bara-Parsa storm of March 31 were taking shelters.
