Skeletons exhumed in Lamjung

Sauryabas, November 4:

Army personnel from the Bhorletar-based security base camp of the Nepali Army in Lamjung today dug up skeletons of two elderly persons, who had been spirited away by the erstwhile Royal Nepal Army after it arrested them five years ago. The bodies were exhumed in the presence of rights activists and journalists.

Western regional chief of the National Human rights Commission (NHRC), Achyut Aryal, said skeletons of Chot Nath Ghimire, 62, and Shekhar Nath Ghimire, 60, of Isaneshwor of Lamjung district, have been sent to Kathmandu for DNA tests.

According to locals, the skeletons were identified after relatives and villagers recognised Chot Nath’s cap and dentures and Shekhar Nath’s vest and shoes, villagers stated said.
