KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 31

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba attended and addressed the welcome reception organised in his honour by All Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal and UK-Nepal Trade and Investment Forum in London today.

PM Deuba is on an official visit to the UK. He is leading a Nepali delegation to the World Leaders Summit of the 26th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 26) to be held in Glasgow on November 1 and 2.

Addressing the gathering, Deuba said he was encouraged by the goodwill and solidarity expressed in the UK Parliament towards Nepal on various occasions. "It is a warm reminder that Nepal has great friends in difficult times," he added.

Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal, Virendra Sharma, Vice Chair of APPG and President of UK Nepal Trade and Investment Forum, Lord Sheikh; Lord Lancaster; and Catherine West MP also spoke at the programme.

Earlier today, Lord Sheikh, Chairman of Britain-Nepal Society Lord Paul, and Chairman of Britain-Nepal NGO Network, Colonel Nick Hinton paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Deuba.

Office bearers of NRNA and other members of Nepali community also met the prime minister, according to the Embassy of Nepal in London.

PM Deuba will attend the official opening ceremony of COP26 tomorrow. He will deliver Nepal's national statement at the World Leaders Summit. He is scheduled to attend the reception to be hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in honour of the participating heads of state and government tomorrow evening.

On the sidelines, PM Deuba will hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, and head of government led by British PM Boris Johnson, among other dignitaries. He will also attend the breakfast reception to be hosted for selected heads of state and the British government.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Deuba is also scheduled to visit Royal Botanical Garden in Edinburgh on November 3 and address a gathering there. He will plant a sapling in the Nepali Garden. He is accompanied by Minister of Forests and Environment Ramsahay Prasad Yadav as well as senior officials of the Government of Nepal. The prime minister will return from the UK on November 3 and arrive in Kathmandu in the morning of November 4.
