Special security plan for Holi festival, punishment to water-balloon throwers
KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, has prepared a special security arrangement in view of the approaching Holi, the festival of colours.
It is being celebrated coming Thursday in the hilly districts including Kathmandu Valley, while the day after that in the Terai districts.
Police are to take immediate action against anyone smearing colours forcefully on others and throwing water-filled balloons during the festival.
At a press meet here Sunday, Range chief Senior Superintendent of Police Bishwaraj Pokhrel confirmed that they were taking special security measures for this year's Holi.
The Range has also requested to make no delay in informing the police in case of anyone using force to celebrate the festival. Police would file a case against such people.
Besides, police squads shall be deputed at different places to strictly implement the traffic rules and prevent any untoward incident.
Similarly, the Range has formed a 200-member informants' group, including the participation of public, to assist police in implementing the security plan effectively and flawlessly. Identity of such informants shall be kept secret. Such group is expected to cooperate with the police administration in its bid to make the central capital free from crimes, according to SSP Pokhrel.
They shall pass information about crimes occurring at local levels to police. Such group has members ranging from health professionals to students.
On a different note, the police are to launch manhunts for 372 fugitives in the capital in its process of enhancing security.
