Statute amendment indispensable, says Lekhak
Rautahat, January 9
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak today said that amendment to the new statute was a must to make it acceptable to all the disgruntled groups and communities.
Laying the foundation stone of a bridge over Chandi khola that connects Rautahat’s Chandrapur with Gaindatar, Minister Lekhak held that implementation of the statute was difficult without ensuring the acceptability of the constitution.
“If the statute is not implemented, it will affect important works, including elections,” Lekhak stated. He urged the parties to set aside their vested partisan interest and commit to the interest of the people and nation.
Lekhak requested the main opposition CPN-UML to help ensure the rights of the Madhesi, ethnic and indigenous people through amendment. “All the parties have to understand the gravity of the situation, pass the amendment bill and save the historical gains made so far”, Lekhak said.
He recalled that unprecedented gains, including republicanism and federalism had become possible due to unity among all the political parties.
