Suspended MP among four brought to Janakpur for probe

Janakpurdham, April 5

Dhanusha police today brought four persons, including suspended lawmaker Sanjay Kumar Sah, to Janakpur in relation to the probe into the murder of media entrepreneur Arun Singhaniya.

Sah, who is from Janakpur sub metropolitan city, Mukesh Chaudhary of Jaleswor municipality, Om Prakash Yadav of Janakpur and Yogendra Sahani of Yagyabhumi were brought to Janakpur.

Sah was brought from Kathmandu’s Dillibazaar prison while Chaudhary and Yadav were brought from Sindhuli jail and Sahani was from Jaleswor prison.

They have been kept in Dhanusha police office for further investigation.

A police source said the four inmates were brought to Janakpur after Chandra Deep Yadav, mastermind behind Singhaniya’s killing, told the police that he and others had killed the media entrepreneur at the directive of Sah.

Chandra Deep was caught from Balakhabar VDC in Dhanusha last week. Deep alleged that Sadbhawana Party central member Ram Binod Yadav too was involved in the incident in addition to Sah.

DSP Nakul Pokhrel said they would begin the process to record the statements of four persons tomorrow. Following his arrest Sah told the police that Ram Binod had knowledge about Singhaniya’s murder. Yadav has been at large since then.

Singhaniya, chairman of Janakpur Today Communications Group, was shot dead at Shiv Chowk, Janakpur on March 1, 2010.

The next day, Chaudhary owned up the responsibility for the murder. Chaudhary was operating an underground outfit, the Tarai Student Liberation Front, then.

Chaudhary told the police that he had owned up the murder after Sah allegedly asked him to do so.

Sah was sent to jail for his involvement in the bomb blast that claimed five lives in Ramananda Chowk, Janakpur, in 2013. Similarly, the Supreme Court has sentenced Sah to 21 months in prison in arms and ammunition case.
