KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 4
A bomb disposal unit of the Nepali Army today disposed a suspicious object outside the house of newly elected member of the House of Representatives Gokul Prasad Baskota and politburo member of CPN-UML at Lokanthali, in Bhaktapur.
The area was tense this morning after a pressure cooker wrapped inside a polythene bag was found just outside the house of former minister of Information and Technology and Communications.
The area was soon secured by Nepal Police personnel and the army was informed about it.
The NA later confirmed that the object was not a bomb or improvised explosive device.
Baskota had won the November 20 federal elections from Kavrepalanchok Constituency-2.
An IED had rocked the same house on 11 March 2020 causing damage to the compound wall and window panes. The bomb was placed by the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.
A few years ago, an audio tape of telephonic conversation of former minister Baskota and Bijay Prakash Mishra, a Swiss company agent in the security press procurement deal, was leaked which forced Baskota to resign from his post.
