Taxes should be proportionate to people's capacity to pay, says PM Oli
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that taxes must be levied in accordance to people's capacity to pay the same.
Addressing the media at Biratnagar Airport today, PM Oli said that the recently revised taxes by local governments and introduction of a new tax regime for smaller incomes and sources for livelihood aim to generate sources of income for the federal units.
The Prime Minister added that Nepal's taxation rate was lowest one among other countries in the world.
He urged the media and the rest to not spread false information by misinterpreting issues of revenue and tax.
PM Oli also posed question on the 'trend' of staging protests against every move of the government at the presser.
The Prime Minister had reached Biratnagar on Tuesday to inaugurate the much talked about natural-gas pipeline project.
32 households will benefit from the project for which Shree Krishna Gau-Sewa Sadan will provide cow-dung to produce natural gas which will be supplied to the household kitchens via network pipes.
