Teachers out of contact after police thrashing
Jajarkot, February 1
Two teachers, who were thrashed by police personnel on Saturday night, have gone out of contact in Nayakwada of Jajarkot, whereas two others are receiving treatment at a local health facility.
According to sources, security personnel stationed at Area Police Office Nayakwada had beaten the teachers at Silingichour while the latter were returning home after attending a function organised at local Saraswoti Secondary School to observe Martyrs’ Day.
The police personnel had thrashed the teachers for no apparent reason. The victims have been identified as Mahendra Singh, Mahendra Budha, Bishnu Budha and Kuber Singh Choudhary.
Head teacher at local Birendra Aishwarya HS School Gorakh Bahadur Singh said Bishnu and Kuber had gone out of contact while Mahendra Singh and Mahendra Budha were receiving treatment at a local health facility.
The locals accused the police of thrashing the teachers under the influence of alcohol. They have demanded stringent action against the security personnel.
Meanwhile, DSP Dan Bahadur Malla of District Police Office Jajarkot said his office had received information about the incident. “The alleged cops have been recalled to the DPO.
We will investigate the incident soon after their arrival. Departmental action will be taken against the accused cops if found guilty,” he pledged.
DSP Malla added that search for the disappeared teachers was under way. “They might have fled due to fear. We will create peaceful and conducive atmosphere for their immediate return,” he pledged.
