Technical panel yet to get shape

Kathmandu, March 23:

The meeting of the Special Committee on supervision, rehabilitation and integration of the UNMIN-verified Maoist combatants could not finalise the names for the Technical Committee. The Special Committee meeting was held at the PM’s office today.

The Committee’s earlier meeting, held on March 16, had approved the Terms of Reference as well as the number of persons to be appointed in the Technical Committee, which will assist the Special Committee on specified areas. Chief Secretary and spokesperson for the Special Committee had said that the eight-member technical committee would comprise of experts on related disciplines.

The next meeting of the Special Committee scheduled for Friday would finalise names for the technical committee, said Dr Mohammad Habibullah, one of the members of the Special Committee.

He said the UML and Maoist did not recommend names for the committee while MJF had also submitted tentative names for the same. He said that names of five persons were tabled in the meeting. But he refused to divulge further.
