Tewa launches hamro gaughar campaign

Ramechhap, June 8

Tewa, a non-government organisation working in the field of women empowerment, has launched Hamro Tewa Gaughar Campaign with the aim to provide training to women earthquake victims in Ramechhap.

Under the campaign, the organisation will provide training in making candles and bangles, tailoring, vegetable farming and counselling, among others, wit the aim of empowering women.

The organisation will also contribute to construction of toilets that were damaged due to last year’s devastating earthquake, remove the debris and provide economic support to single women and children who were earthquake victims.

Earlier, Tewa had sent some women volunteers to the district headquarters to extend their support to quake victims last year. “We started our contribution with immediate rescue after the disaster and want to continue until the reconstruction is completed.

We will provide financial support to construct toilets and income generating and skills training,” said Kamala Panta, a volunteer.

Programme Director of Tewa, Urmila Shrestha, said her organisation has been contributing to women empowerment in more than 66 districts.
