Thakur, Mahato join border demonstration as govt tables bills without consent
BIRGUNJ: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur and Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato on Wednesday joined a sit-in at the Indo-Nepal border point near Birgunj of Parsa district.
The United Democratic Madhesi Front has intensified protests after the government on Tuesday tabled the Bill on First Amendment of Constitution of Nepal and the Bill on Reconstruction of Earthquake Affected Structures without its consent.
While Mahato was in Birgunj for last few days, Thakur also reached the city today from the Capital in a bid to intensify protests.
Earlier talking with journalists, Thakur had accused the government of bypassing protesters in the House as well as on the streets.
He maintained that the Front was not against talks, but the government was.
Thakur even warned to scale up the stir.
