Thousands of children in homeless state
LUMBINI: Thousands of children in Nepal are found to be homeless.
It has also come to revelation that scores of children deprived of love and care from parents are also on the rise of late.
As many as 30,999 children are found in the state of homelessness in Nepal, stated a report jointly prepared by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare and SOS Balgram Nepal.
Among them, 8,125 are surviving the lives without family protection, 2,312 children are being protected by their relatives and 20,549 are living in the families where there are no adults to take care of them.
The National Census-2068 BS stated that the children of age group 10-19 are found to be the heads in 73,728 households in Nepal.
Some of the homeless children are under the protection and supervision of their relatives while some are taking themselves the role of custodians of their small brothers and sisters.
