Three dead, 27 injured in road accidents

Chandranigahpur, Oct 3:

Three persons were killed and five injured in a road accident in Lamaha jungle of Rautahat today.

Bharati Devi Goit of Kanchanpur-8, Saptari, her five-month-old son Bhargo and domestic help Bidya Devi died after the jeep, heading to Saptari from Birgunj, skidded off the road and plunged around 30 metres down the road near Chandranigahpur along the East-West Highway, the police said.

Meanwhile, nine persons were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Suikhet of Hemja along the Bhupi Sherchan Highway in Kaski district today. The bus, which was heading to Baglung from Kathmandu, rammed into a electric pole and fell five metres down the road, the police said. The injured are undergoing treatment in the Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital.

In another incident, three persons were injured in a road mishap at Parbatipur along the Nepalgunj-Kohalpur road section today.

According to the district police office Banke, 21-year-old Ram Bahadur Giri of Rolpa Liwang, 50-year-old Lok Bahadur Rawat of Salyang Thalabang village development committee-8 and Nutan Poudel of Dang Halwar-1 were injured in the mishap.

Of the injured, Giri and Rawat are in critical condition, said deputy superintendent of police Govinda Pariyar.

The mishap occurred when a stone-laden truck, which was heading from Kohalpur to Nepalgunj, collided with a microbus. The other injured passengers are out of danger, the police said.
