KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 3
Police have arrested three individuals with a large cache of counterfeit currency from Latmari Tol in Ishnath Municipality-4, in Rautahat on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, a total of 118 fake Nepali notes of Rs 1,000 denomination were recovered from the suspects.
Those arrested have been identified as Ajay Patel, 20, and Genalal Patel, 21, both residents of Devahi Gonahi Municipality-4, and Jayprakash Kumar, 23, of Kudwa Chainpur, Motihari, East Champaran in Bihar, India.
A police team from the Mathiya Mahuliya Police Post intercepted the trio and seized the counterfeit notes along with the motorcycle they were using, bearing Indian registration number BR 05 AT 0983.
Police said an investigation is underway to determine the source of the fake currency and the suspects' involvement in illegal circulation.
