Three members of same family found hanging in Chitwan: Police
KATHMANDU: A woman, her daughter and son reportedly killed themselves in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-18 of Chitwan district last night.
The deceased have been identified as Maya Ale Magar, who appeared to be in her mid-30s, daughter Binita of around 13 to 14 years of age and son Bibek of around 12.
The Chitwan District Police Office (DPO) confirmed that three members of the same family living in Clinic Tole of Shantinagar in Bharatpur were found hanging on Thursday night.
Preparation was underway to bring the bodies of the deceased to local Bharatpur Hospital for postmortem.
Information Officer at the DPO, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Durga Raj Regmi told The Himalayan Times correspondent Tilak Ram Rimal that the mother, her son and daughter were found hanging in the same room at their home.
Locals have presumed that the woman might have committed suicide after inducing her children to hang.
The deceased woman's husband Nar Bahadur Ale Magar, who has been serving in Nepal Army in Kathmandu, was not at home when the incident took place, it has been reported.
Meanwhile, investigation into the incident is underway to ascertain whether or not it was a suicide, said police.
