Traders’ body shuts down town
BANKE: Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NCCI) shut Nepalgunj today asking the government to make public the condition of Gaurav Rastogi of Tribhuwanchowk, who was kidnapped 10 days ago.
The traders’ body has accused the government of inaction in rescuing Gaurav, who is still in the abductors’ grip well after paying a ransom.
Krishna Prasad Shrestha, vice-chairman, NCCI, warned of intensified protests if the abducted was not released at the earliest. Gaurav’s father Murari said he paid Rs 7 lakh in ransom last Friday.
Calling from Gaurav’s mobile phone on the second day of his abduction, the kidnappers had asked Rs 40 million for his release. After four days of bargain, the kidnappers had agreed to accept Rs 7 lakh. “I left the money as directed by the kidnappers. But they have not released my son yet,” Murari said.
