BAJURA, OCTOBER 19
As roads across Bajura remain obstructed, mostly due to the rainfall, it's the locals, mostly patients, who are at the receiving end.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Lokendra Bahadur Bista, more than a dozen roads, including the Sanfe-Martadi and Martadi-Kolti road sections of Bajura's main highway and Karnali corridor have been obstructed. "Besides the main roads, inner roads in local levels are also out of shape," said the assistant CDO.
Bearing the brunt of the situation are mostly patients.
A case in point, Bire Baduwal of Ward No 6 of Badimalika Municipality was taken to District Hospital by his kin a few days ago.
Following normal check-up, the hospital referred Bire to a better health facility on Sunday.
But as the day had almost passed, his kin, in view of the fact that the patient could not be carried to hospital due to the road's condition, decided to wait for the next morning. They managed to carry the patient through the landslide-ravaged section of the road, and after a long search, finally got an ambulance and took him to Bayalpata Hospital.
But to no avail. The patient died on arrival.
"We could have saved him if the road was in order. We couldn't take him to Bayalpata in time," lamented Bire's nephew Pare Baduwal.
