KAWASOTI: A person died and another one sustained critical injuries after the scooter they were riding on was hit by a truck in Nawalparasi last night.

The deceased has been identified as scooter rider Tikaram Mahato (22) and injured as pillion rider Bharat Gurau (21), both the residents of Shrijana Chok in Devchuli Municipality in Nawalparasi district.

According to District Police Office, Nawalparasi, the truck (Na 8 Kha 1845) hit the scooter (Lu 41 Pa 1727) critically injuring Mahato and Gurao in Madhyabindu Municipality-10 along the East-West Highway on Thursday night.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arjun Ranabhat at the DPO, critically injured Mahato was rushed to College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur where he breathed his last during the course of treatment at 2:00 am this morning.

Meanwhile, injured Gurau is undergoing treatment at the medical college.
