HETAUDA, JULY 13
A truck was swept away by floodwaters in the Karra River at Hatiya in Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City on Sunday morning, while the driver escaped by swimming to safety.
According to the District Police Office, Makwanpur, the incident occurred at around 7:45 am near the Shivam Cement Factory after floodwaters overtopped a culvert built with hume pipes.
The empty 12-wheel Eicher truck (Na 7 Kha 765), which was returning after unloading stones at the cement factory, was carried away by the swollen river along with its driver.
The driver, 34-year-old Dipak Thing of Ratnanagar Municipality-13 in Chitwan, managed to swim out of the river and escaped with minor injuries to his leg, police said.
No casualties were reported in the incident. Police said the truck remains in the river, and efforts are underway to recover it.
