Truckers stop protest

ITAHARI: Truck and tractor owners, who had been staging protests for the last five days against the three-fold increase in tax on mining of sand and stone from rivers of the district, called off their protest with effect from Thursday. Coordinator of the Entrepreneurs’ Struggle Committee, Gajendra Nepal, said the protests were called off after an all-sector meeting agreed to meet most of the demands put forth by the owners. According to Nepal, another meeting would be held in the coming 15 days.
