MANGALBARE: Police have arrested two persons on the charge of raping an elderly woman of Sandakpur Rural Municipality in Ilam district.

The arrested have been identified as Som Rai (30) of Sandakpur Rural Municipality-4 in Ilam district and Uttam Shrestha (27) of Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality-4 in Jhapa district.

The duo were reportedly arrested on Wednesday for raping the elderly woman at her house on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Madhav Prasad Shrestha at Ilam District Police Office said that investigation into the case was underway.

In a different context, police have also arrested Saman Limbu of Maijogmai Rural Municipality-4 and Rajan Rai (22) of Ilam Municipality-9 on the charge of manhandling the employees of District Hospital, Ilam.
