Two-day bandh affects normal life in Eastern Region
TAPLEJUNG: Normal life in the Eastern Region has been adversely affected due to a two-day bandh called by the Limbuwan Joint Struggle Committee on Thursday.
The bandh has been announced in nine districts in the region including Taplejung.
Vehicular movement has come to a grinding halt and market places, industries and educational institutions have remained closed due to the strike.
The Committee has demanded that the nine districts be federated into a Limbuwan province.
Federal Limbuwan Party, CPN-Maoist, Social Democratic Party as well as other ethnic groups and organisations are in the Joint Struggle Committee.
The frequent bandh and strikes have hit the daily wage workers, students and businessmen severely.
Security personnel have been mobilised in large numbers in places of the region.
