Dhankuta, October 3:

The Dhankuta district administration office has slapped show cause notices on two government employees who are accused of seeking bribes for issuing citizenship certificates. DAO kharidar Ashok Pokhrel and Dandabazaar VDC secretary Bhesh Raj Dahal have been asked to explain why action should not be taken against them, said DAO sources.

According to DAO sources, the two took Rs 1.50 lakh from a Dandabazaar trader Pawan Kumar Agrawal for his citizenship certificate. Agrawal later lodged a plaint at the DAO. The DAO found the certificate to be fake. Agrawal had taken the document after the attestation of eight people from the certificate distribution team. His certificate was revoked in April. Dhankuta CDO Tara Nath Gautam said investigation into the matter is on and action would be taken against the guilty.
