Two held for illegal trade of wildlife parts in Nuwakot

NUWAKOT: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police with the help of Nuwakot District Police Office has reportedly arrested two people along with the dried meat of endangered wildlife on Sunday.

Police identified those arrested in this connection as Krishna Lal Shrestha of Ratmate, in Belkotgadhi Municipality-7 and Balram Shrestha of Taruka, in Tarakeshwar Rural Municipality-2 in Nuwakot district.

Acting on a tip-off that the two men were involved in the illegal trade of wildlife parts for long time, the CIB sleuths approached them acting as buyers and followed them. Police confiscated the dried meat of three Eurasian eagles and a pangolin from Krishnalal's house on Saturday.

The arrested will be handed over to the District Forest Office today for further investigation. They will be tried under the National Park and Wildlife Act 1973, said police.
