Two killed after being swept away by swollen rivers
HETAUDA: At least two persons died after being swept away by swollen rivers in Bakaiya and Bagmati Rural Municipalities in Makawanpur district, according to the local authorities.
The deceased have been identified as Pancha Kumar Kumal (50) of Phaparbari of Bagmati RM-1 and Bir Bahadur Dhalan (60) of Bakaiya RM-6, said the Makawanpur District Police Office.
Likewise, vehicular movement has been obstructed along the Hetauda-Birgunj and Hetauda-Narayanghat routes due to multiple landslips triggered by torrential rainfall in the country, said Makawanpur's Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Sharma Dawadi.
The movement along the Bagjora section of Tribhuvan Highway; Manhari, Lothar and Thanbhanjyang sections along the Hetauda-Narayanghat route; and Ratamate section along the Hetauda – Birgunj route were obstructed, added Dawadi.
A technical team with dozers has been mobilised to remove the landslide debris.
If the weather clears the transportation along all the blocked routes will resume by this afternoon, said CDO Sharma
