SURUNGA, JHAPA: Two people were killed when a motorcycle they were travelling on, collided with a microbus on a Juke culvert section along the East-West Highway in Kankai Municipality-1 of Jhapa district today.

The deceased have been identified as Rangalal Dhakal (53) and his wife Manamaya Dhakal (52) of Damak Municipality-3, according to the District traffic Police Office, Jhapa.

The Dhakal couple who were travelling on the motorcycle (Me 1 Pa 9899) collided head-on with the microbus (Ba 3 Kha5887) heading in a westward direction.

The critically injured couple succumbed to injuries during the course of treatment at the Birtamod-based B&C Hospital, Birtamod, police said.

Meanwhile, the Area Police Office, Surunga, has impounded the four-wheeler and detained its driver for further investigation into the incident.
