UML Chairman Oli dubs UDMF activities "social fascism"

RAJBIRAJ: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has come down heavily upon the United Democratic Madhesi Front, dubbing its activities “social fascism and totalitarianism”

Addressing the mass assembly at Maleth VDC of Saptari district amid the UDMF’s protest on Monday, the former Prime Minister the CPN-UML’s Mechi-Mahakali campaign, which the UDMF tried to obstruct, was not against any party or individual.

Instead, it was against country’s betrayers and those who wanted to widen the distance between the people of Madhes and Pahad, and are betrayers.

Oli went on to claim that Nepal’s Constitution favoured all including Madhesis, Aadivasis, Janajatis, women and minority communities.

He warned of constitutional crisis if the elections were not held in all three levels – local, provincial and federal – on time.

Senior leader of the party Madhav Kumar Nepal and Central Committee member Lalbabu Yadav also addressed the programme while the UDMF cadres clashed with security personnel outside the venue.

The UDMF cadres vandalised over a dozen vehicles of CPN-UML leaders and cadres when they were leaving the venue after the function.
