UML betrayed us, says Prachanda
Kathmandu, March 11:
Maoist chairman Prachanda today flayed the UML for undermining the importance of electoral alliance among the Left forces.
He charged the UML with maintaining double standards on the issue of forging an electoral alliance during the constituent assembly polls saying, “The UML has misled the people by deceiving us.”
He was of the view that the UML was speaking against the Maoists rather than forging an alliance to go together to ensure Left majority in the CA polls.
The Maoist contender in Kathmandu constituency 10 against UML’s Sanu Shrestha, Prachanda, told a gathering at the Maoist’s electoral campaign in Siphal, Kathmandu constituency no 4, today that his proposal of alliance with UML and other Left parties was to strengthen republican set up in the country. “The proposal for alliance was not made simply because of fear of losing the election,” he added.
He also criticised the UML and the Nepali Congress for doing nothing for the people after the restoration of democracy in 1990. Prachanda also charged the NC for branding the Maoists as terrorists and putting tag on their heads while being in the government.
“Now they (NC) have become strong republicans!,” he said while asking the NC to apologise before the Maoists for their actions.
