UML condemns attacks on leaders during feedback collection

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML condemned cases of attacks on lawmakers during feedback collection programmes in various parts of the nation on Monday.

Issuing a press statement, party's Secretary Pradeep Gyawali also demanded actions against those involved in attacks and attack attempts.

Earlier, it was reported that the party's senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was attacked by cadres of Madhes-centric parties in Gaur of Rautahat.

Likewise, some unidentified persons had reportedly hurled petrol bombs on the vehicle of Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat in Nuwakot.

The party has claimed that at least seven persons were injured in the clash with cadres with Madhesi parties in Gaur of Rautahat.

"Some anarchist, mischievous and anti-democratic elements are active to block the constitution writing process and push the nation back to instability," Gyawali said.

The party also appealed to members of the public to take part in the constitution making campaign with a high spirit and decency.
