Kathmandu, February 14
The parliamentary party meeting of main opposition party CPN-UML has commenced in the capital.
UML had called consecutive meetings of the secretariat and the parliamentary party following the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Cholendra Shumsher Rana, on Sunday.
Senior leaders of the party have publicly said that the government coalition's move to register the proposal was inappropriate.
Speculations are rife regarding the main opposition's possible move of filing another motion to counter the coalition's proposal wherein an impeachment motion would be filed against the four justices of the SC Constitutional Bench who had ruled in favour of house reinstatement last year.
Likewise, it has been learnt that the party will not attend the all-party meet summoner by Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota. The meeting has been scheduled for 2:00 pm today.
Speaker Sapkota had called the meeting to discuss several current issues including the ongoing parliament impasse as the UML has been obstructing House proceedings blaming the Speaker of nurturing grounds to split the party. Likewise, the gathering is also set to discuss the impeachment motion filed by Nepali Congress and the government coalition partners.
